A Kentucky Mountain Saddle horse is obtained by crossing a Quarter Horse to a Missouri Fox Trotter.HarmonyP2005 wrote:Hi my names harmony and im trying to breed a purebred Kentucky mountain horse but im struggling tremendously so if anyone could give me some tips or have one and would like to sell please reply also im in need of a pure female mustang im selling east Frisians so if you want one theyre for sale
A Fox Trotter has too much size and type (and is also a bit tall).
The Quarter also suffers from too much size and type.
So the trick will be lightening both size and type in each prospect parent until you have light to very light bodies.
However, one of the easier ways to go about getting the breed, if you're not interested in creating your own newly-formed line, is to take a grade mare and breed it to a pureblood stallion that's on the market (I did check, there's a couple already), then the filly of that mare and do the same. It will take you three to four generations breeding back to a pureblood to get a pureblood, but it's possible.
Don't forget to check it out!
