Phoenix River Stables
Long-term goal: I don't know, maybe quarter horses? I'm a live-for-the-moment kind of girl.
My breeding program has been kind of all over the place - I've produced two WABs and several Mongolians, but as I was forever running out of room and getting horses with less than stellar stats that were all closely related, I decided to pare down. It was REALLY hard, but I sold off my WABs and the stock for that project, in favor of really focusing on the quality and genetic diversity of my Mongolian genetics.
I'm not sure if this is actually how I should be doing it, but I've found I often prefer horses with a couple of positive comments, even if they have several red stats, over horses with no red stats but poor or average comments. So, I'm going to be focusing on finding and breeding animals with those (although obviously no red stats + positive comments would be lovely).
At the forefront of this project right now is my (aging, unfortunately) amazing Tarpan stallion Hot Trotty. He's made a fortune for me in stud fees and also shows well. I'm finding it difficult to find animals of comparable quality and I'm trying not to use him too much since he's been used so much already, but he's still the centerpiece of my stable right now. I've also got a nice Przewalski stallion, Honey Jack, and a fabulous Mongolian stud PRS Georgia Clay. Unfortunately my mares are mostly mediocre, so I'm on the hunt for quality Tarpans, Przewalski horses, and crosses with fresh genetics.
I'm hoping to make this a real record of my program, so I should be back frequently with updates on animals I buy, sell, and breed.

Hot Trotty has, unfortunately, passed on. I've got a few mares in foal to him now, including one for sale that I kind of hope nobody buys just yet, so I'm looking forward to his last couple of babies. According to his progeny page before he died he had more than 40 living offspring.
I've bred and sold several horses since yesterday, and rehomed several duds. However, there have been some gems. Some of my breeding stock is still less than stellar, but I've been having decent luck so far. I've adopted a couple new broodmares, one of which is a Przewalski mare named Pony Cannon who has a pretty good breeding report in addition 4 stars in her Mongolian evaluation, which is exciting as I sometimes struggle picking mares who are bulky enough.
I've also recently gotten my first Mongolian filly out of a less good mare bred to a decent stallion - I've gotten more colts than I needed and sold several, but for some reason fillies eluded me. She's nicer than expected, with no comments below average. When she comes of age I might experiment with breeding her to color horses from different breeds.
Standouts in the stud pasture include PRS Georgia Clay who I've mentioned before, but I also bought a Tarpan called Tendor from someone for I think 10 bucks. I almost feel bad about that - he has five positive comments and brings in a decent amount through stud fees alone. I also like a Tarpan x Przewalski cross called PRS Lemon Wedge - I've only got one foal from him so far, but he hit it out of the park with PRS Lemon Meringue, who is probably my best Mongolian so far.
