The ability to generate custom horses

I would love to see an option where the user base could generate custom horses for PTs. The breed, the colors, the markings, all the genetics, everything.

I read a post somewhere discussing this and now I can't find it.

That's one of the more recent posts... the others must be older then at least december of last year (that's where I stopped cruising).
They're mostly found (maybe solely found), in the comments and suggestions forum (so this same forum). They are planned to be added eventually... unless you're thinking of something a bit different. Try searching for addition of new breeds.

I think they meant purchasing custom horses. Like you pay PT and then you can choose the breed, gender, and color genetics of said horse.

There was an old game I played that had that feature. It was cool, but I personally feel like there's not much need for it on HWO. "Rare" genetics (pearl, etc) are easily picked up in the AC, and many players breed rare colors and are willing to sell from their programs. While getting a specific breed in a certain color can take a bit of work, it is not an absurd amount. And paying for a horse that you could potentially age out in a day or two (if you play really quickly) doesn't make sense to me. Yes, you'll get foals off of it, but it still seems a shame for it to be gone so quickly.

For comparison, the other game that I saw this feature on (and actually took advantage of) had randomized coat color for first generation horses. So you were stuck with what you got once the horse was created. This made certain colors exceedingly rare as each player was only allowed a certain number of foundation horses. This game also proceeded at a pre-set pace - every players' horses aged at exactly the same rate - so custom horses would be around for several months at least based on the pace of the game.

So based on the play style of HWO, and the great availability of rare genes, I personally do not support a custom horse option.

Oh! I see.
Yeah, it would be a nice addition, but I don't see it as a great advantage. I think it may be a good way to utilize some PT, but having a ready-made defeats some of the fun of the game. Should it be added, I would likely NOT take advantage of it, except for if I would freeze said horse just to look at. I enjoy the little bit of struggle to work toward an achievable goal.
