Why is his coat like this?

Why is his coat like this?

This is one of my boys, Ixion....his coat is weird. He's half brown and half gold. I've noticed this on one or two other horses as well. Is it a glitch? Thanks for any help!

It's not a glitch, it's a gene called sooty.
