breed characteristics

Post by SageFeather145 »

Will there be a point in the game where different horses have different neck sets? Quarter horses are often seen with their neck down and relaxed, also will there be a point where there is artwork for breeds like friesian to have wavy hair?

Eventually you'll be able to 'pose' your horses, or choose from pose pre-sets, such as lowering the head and neck angle. All horses, regardless of conformation, are capable of standing posed the way the horses in the game are, but many choose to stand in a more comfortable position.

You can actually watch a prototype of the posing system on this youtube video: https://youtu.be/2kWiWXO4PQk?t=27s
The programming is mostly done, but there is a lot of setup involved so get the correct coordinates for the entire horse body.

As for wavy manes and such as you see on Friesians, yes we'll absolutely have those eventually, as well as the option to plait manes/tails, it's just additional artwork needed so it'll be a while before it happens but it is planned.

lol must be fun! I'd enjoy it at least. Also I find horses in general fascinating and it's fun to guess the color of it. ;)

The current Tennessee Walking Horses do look less exciting without their characteristic pose. But as an artist I definitely understand how long it takes to do art, particularly when you need whole sets of images, or you have to check that something new works with a whole set of existing images.
