Why isn’t my horse winning higher levels?
My horse Freya has 557% training, her breeders report seems to lean towards driven dressage (I think), but she can only pull wins in level 5/6 local shows. Why? My Arabians have half the training yet can pull wins in level 7/8 local shows.

sometimes it just happens that way. I try everything and see what they are best n. My Belgians love to show jump and hate log pulling.

Temperament, build, weight and actual conformation stats need to be taken into account. The breeders report is just a tiny piece in the puzzle.

There are many different factors besides just the breeders report that come into effect with competitions.Rosa Parks wrote:My horse Freya has 557% training, her breeders report seems to lean towards driven dressage (I think), but she can only pull wins in level 5/6 local shows. Oh I know, I have the weight adjusted to the correct discipline as well, I just meant by the breeder’s report it would indicate that she would do best in driven dressage but she still can’t get higher than level 7 wins at almost 600% training. But she has a bombproof temperament (seems like 99% of the horses on here do...) so maybe that’s why? But as a basic account I also don’t know her confirmation stats. Her HGP is also around 35k. I’m just trying to figure out what the factors are causing her to not be so great and if I can change any of them.

Basically all what Bitapetrone said is what effects how well a horse does in competition.Rosa Parks wrote:Bitapetrone wrote:Temperament, build, weight and actual conformation stats need to be taken into account. The breeders report is just a tiny piece in the puzzle.

I don't have notes on Driven Dressage specifically, but I compete my Dressage horses there and they were doing very well. My records have since been surpassed, and one of the best places you can check for requirements is the high score board via Rankings -> World Records. There you can see what is winning and with what build/weight/etc. Note that this isn't always the ideal, but it can point you in the right direction.
