Strange Foundation

Post by JJeann »

http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/1879279 Honestly the most unusual Arab I've found in foundation, I know he's going grey and I'm guessing a Flaxen Chestnut? He's just so light, any other possible genes at play?

Hi JJean,
I agree with your guess. If you look at his picture from 4 years of age, you can see that, despite his greying, his legs are slightly lighter than the rest of his body, as is his mane and tail. This is a sign of flaxen, which is not uncommon in the adoption center.
Hope this helps!

I believe his base color is Flaxen Chestnut, but he received the Greying Gene which will cause his body and tail to change to "white" or "grey" but leaving his mane the original color. He's very pretty I used to own a mare who was Black then Greyed out. I've listed her below.

Honestly, it will be difficult to tell exactly what color this horses...many of the AC horses, seem to be glitch. They tend to change color as they age...while at birth the horse was indeed Flaxen Chestnut, he wouldn't of greyed with a black mane.

An example, here is an Palomino that changed

I agree with what the others have said. Graying flaxen chestnut. I don't believe this is a glitch horse either. The graying genes hasn't yet been fully explored so there are many different types of graying out that happen. Some, the mane and tail don't change color (or appear never to), on others, the graying gene silver's the mane and tail before much of the body.

I am of the belief that this is an unusual graying expression.
