Until registries are in place the Breeding Communities forum will be for players to work together towards creating or improving their favourite breeds.
Forum rules
Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.
All new threads must be approved.

Cleveland Bay's

Post by StarLite »

I have been breeding Cleveland Bay's for awhile now and I know that there are a few other individuals that have also been working on this breed. I have decided to start this forum, so that we can hopefully work together and get a true to breed line of Cleveland Bay's going.

Characteristics:
The Cleveland Bay generally stands between 16 and 17 hands, and is always bay in color. White markings, except for a small star on the forehead, render the horse inadmissible to the stud book. Horses are expected to have complete black points, including completely black lower legs. Legs that are red below the knees and hocks are considered faulty in color, although they do not disqualify a horse from registry. The breed has a large head, slightly convex profile, and a long, well-muscled neck. It is a well-muscled horse, with legs that are strong but short in relation to the body.

Currently I have this Cleveland Bay up for stud.
He is not the color that I would like, but he does have a green movement.

I breed the occasional CB and I use them in my other breeding projects. I have some parents ready and waiting hopefully to produce some new CB offspring, just haven't gotten round to breeding them yet.

Your horses are always so lovely Starlite, I've bought a few Norfolk Trotters, CBs and Connie's from you in the past :).
