Breed Data

Post by Argent II »

I don't believe this is high on your to-do list, but as a note:
1. Andalusian mares must be a minimum of 14.3hh; current HWO min is 14.1hh
2. Lipizzans are off by a whole hand: they should never be over 15.3hh, and average about 15.0hh, with some being as small as 14.0hh; current HWO range is 15.0hh to 16.3hh

3. Alter Real is simply a strain of Lusitano. It probably does not have recent Arab ancestry or any Hanoverian ancestry, and should probably be 50% Lusitano breeding, perhaps with Andy, Carthusian, or Spanish Barb

4. The Bashkir Curly is also called American Bashkir Curly, and - as the name suggests - an American horse breed. It doesn't really make sense that currently all horse breeds neccessary to create it are from eastern Europe and Asia (Karabair, Kazakh, Iomud, Lokai, Yakut, Bashkir). While it shares part of the name, the Bashkir Curly is not actually descended from the Russian Bashkir. The breeds neccessary to create Bashkir Curly would likely be Mustang, Arabian, Morgan, and perhaps some American Indian breeds.

5. Latvian Riding and Harness horses are two types of the same breed. Oldenburgs, Holsteins and Hanoverians as well as OldenburgxTrakehner/Thoroughbred/Arabian crosses were bred with the local horses to create the breed, so Norfolk Trotters, Anglo-Arabians, Dole Gudbransdals and North Swedish horses are kind of inappropriate, historically. For some reason the Harness horse standards in-game allow for a lighter build than the Riding horse (feels like they've been mixed up).

As far as Latvians go, they are also too small here - in RL, a 16hh Latvian is considered smallish, and they often reach 17hh - both the riding and harness type horses.
