So bad at dilutions!

Post by RoyalCrownAcres »

I have these two here that I have no idea what their colors are. If possible, would you also be kind enough to explain the colors? I have looked at color guides but they don’t confuse me more than they help with these two. Thanks in advance!

My best attempt, not saying I'm perfect or anything.

RCA Dream Tour looks like Silver Dapple with Leopard Complex

*RVF* Molten No Ash: Brown Dun, possibly wih Smoky.

Dilutions are really hard to figure out. :)

I mostly agree, but
- in the foal picture of Dream Tour you also can clearly see that she is a dun; she wouldn't be that light if not ^^
- The light mane and solid, dark but warm color are indicators for the silver and black (no mealy seeming legs and belly in the foal picture is the best indicator for black, though silver can sometimes give an expression of mealy, but then it stays even in the adult coat);
(f.e. if she would've been just Black the foal woul've looked somewhat like this one though more brownish because this little one is smoky black
Image)

- well, the lp is obvious(?)
and not forgetting the stockings, all in all she should be a Silver (Dappeled) Grullo Tobiano with Lp.

Molten No Ash is indeed a Brown Dun as
- primal markings (the line on her back and pale stipes on her legs) are visible and she
- has no smoky/cream because the warm spots are clearly red/brown instead of yellowish :)
