Competition Help
Hey guys! So, I have a question.
Ive been entering in my gorgeous cremello arab stud in competitions, but he hasnt been.. doing too well. Hes fully trained, 69k+ HGP, and a GREAT Breeders report. regarding his conformation, He should be best in either saddleseat, racing, and endurance depending on what his intelligence is.
I keep him at his proper weight for the events, proper temperment, and I understand some horses are better than others just because, but my boy doesnt seem to be good at anything. Im at a loss!

Re: Competition Help
He seems to be about normal though? 60% win-rate is pretty ok ^^ but if you want to be sure let him start in 10-15 comps (up to lv5) and then have him compete where his percentage is highest...Carbon wrote:Hey guys! So, I have a question.

Otherwise he simply is more of a grinder (does well in locals, but not quite so in real comps); when I want to be very sure, I always use this spreadsheet someone posted somewhen in the past for discipline evaluations of your horse. Take a look if you are interested

Also including: he doesn't appear to have much talent at all in the comps you've tried him in. Sometimes a horse that is bred to be 'talented' in a certain set of comps, does very poorly in them. Sometimes it's because the talent lays elsewhere. Sometimes it's because the horse lacks a competitive heart. In this case I think it's the former.
I would suggest trying your horse in all of the comps and see what he does have a talent in. I would expect a horse with his HGP to be able to pull level 6 wins in something. I think that he isn't performing well because his talents are elsewhere and not because he lacks a competitive heart.
I'm kinda thinking dressage, or driven.

Hi, I tried to take a look at that Spreadsheet as I'm interested too but the permissions on the site stopped me. Is there a way that you can make it public or can I get access please?
Thanks

Re: Competition Help
It is somewhere here in the forums, um, here it is http://www.horseworldonline.net/forum/v ... ion#p70359 the copy for the blank sheet should be it ^^ hope that helps, or try to ask silverine if there is an option - i really don't know of any method if you have no google account (it is easy to create one thoughShaderon wrote:Nazarach wrote:

Re: Competition Help
Barring hidden stats like the theoretical competition stat or affinity for a specific discipline, this horse doesn't look bred to do any particular discipline well. He fits very little of the criteria to perform well in the three disciplines deemed best for him. I can't speak for what his temperament was at the time of competition, but I do remember a popular trend of breeding high BR Arabians before I took my break several months ago, and almost every single one of those horses was stuck at Bombproof temperament.
---------------------------
-- Saddleseat
Stat priority: Balance, Agility, Movement, Intelligence
Build: Horse-type, Light to potentially Very Light
Temperament: Spirited - High Strung
-- Your Horse
Stats: 34, 32, 54, ??
Build: Horse-type, Very Light
Temperament: Bombproof
Before even taking weight into account we can see that your horse lacks the conformation to perform impressively in Saddleseat being that the two most important stats are both stuck below 40. This will cause problems when you start competing against the higher ranked horses running 60+ in the primary stat.
---------------------------
-- Racing
Stat priority: Speed, Stamina, Strength, Speed
Build: Horse-type, Light to potentially Very Light
Temperament: High Spirited to lower end High Strung (this is my theory and debateable)
-- Your Horse
Stats: 41, 42, 24, 41
Build: Horse-type, Very Light
Temperament: Bombproof
Here we have the same problem we had in saddleseat, but it is compounded by the high priority placed on speed. The top racers all have at least over 50 in speed, most are a minimum of 60. The temperament comes into play again here as well.
---------------------------
-- Endurance
Stat priority: Stamina, Speed, Agility, Tempo
Build: Horse-type, Very Light
Temperament: Bombproof
-- Your Horse
Stats: 42, 41, 32, 37
Build: Horse-type, Very Light
Temperament: Bombproof
This is the discipline I would go with simply because his temperament and build are ideal, but his conformation doesn't shine here either. Again, we have the primary stat being significantly lower than we'd want it to be.
---------------------------
If competition is what you're keen on, I would recommend picking the disciplines you like and breeding horses suited for those specific disciplines. These horses with fancy breeder's reports definitely look nice, and high HGP and gold breeder reports are certainly a worthy goal. However, I find that these horses do not do great in higher tier competition simply because they are bred to look good all-around and not for a specific discipline. HGP means nothing for competition when it is not focused as it is simply the culmination of everything and disciplines only care about 3-4 stats each.
