Player Courses
Now that I'v got the basics in place for the course learning aspect of the game I thought I'd give a quick overview of how this works and I'm hoping to get some feedback on the system.
Every player has 6 stats. These stats determine how fast a player can learn new skills. Each course has 2 attributes. These are the stats evaluated for that course. A player can increase their stats, and thus learn skills faster, by leveling up. Leveling up is done by earning experience and experience is earned by just playing the game. Any action done in the game, regardless of success, will earn experience points. So the more you play the game the faster you'll gain levels and the faster you'll learn more skills.
Skills (courses) are what give you more abilities in the game. From the ability to own more horses, breed more horses, train horses better/faster, compete better/faster to the more advanced abilities like becoming a vet, farrier, learning to craft items etc.
Each Skill Tree has numerous courses which each gradually increase the ability of the player and each course has 5 progressively harder levels.
Any questions / comments / suggestions?

Re: Player Courses
Seems simple enough.
Thoughts:
On the player profile, it'd be nice to see numbers attached for XP already had, and numbers attached to the player skills.
Completed course one: it's very easy to do, and apart from the money and the time cost, not very costly. What's to stop a player from just burning through all the course levels mad quick?
Bugs:
When on the course page, the top bar link for the player profile is broken.

Re: Player Courses
The costs will increase based on course difficulty and level. The higher level/difficult courses will be very expensive and very time consuming. For testing reasons I've disabled these but in reality it will take years to master all the courses. Otherwise there is nothing else except time/money stopping a player.
Basic accounts will be limited to studying only 1 course at a time, but upgraded accounts will be able to study more than 1. I haven't determined exactly how many yet, maybe only 2 or 3 at once.
I'll add numbers tonight on the player profile page where you've suggested.
I haven't looked into that link bug yet. I know which piece of code is the problem so I'll look into that tonight.

Found an additional bug:
When a course is currently in progress, the player page does not update to refelect that and still reads 'You are not currently studying a skill.'

Larissar has replied to the bugs there already. It may make it easier on her so she doesn't have to repeat herself over and over hehe

It would also be real great to have the progress bar fill in without having to refresh. I thought it was broken for a minute there! Using Chrome.

Re: Player Courses
I was thinking about that this morning too. Same with completing and beginning a course not refreshing the entire page, just the section in question. I can do both of these things fairly easily but it requires some layout changes that I can't make until I have a few other bits worked out first.

Re: Player Courses
That's fair. Also hi! I finally remembered this existed!
Another thing, when you finish up Basic Horse Management I, it doesn't load the Basic Horse Management II box. The thing to learn the first level is on the box for level 1 and it loads the whole level 2 box when you've done level 1 for it. I feel it would be better if it loaded the box as soon as you finished course 5 for level 1 (making you/whoever level 0 in level 2). It would flow better.

Re: Player Courses
I'm not sure I follow what you are saying.
Basic Horse Management II isn't available until after you've completed all 5 levels of Basic Horse Management I. That is by design... or are you talking about the little numbers 1,2,3,4,5 above the progress bar?
