Can't breed my mare?

I bought a mare from another player as a baby, and she has reached breeding age, but I am unable to breed her. Why? I am able to have more horses, but her 'breed horse' thing is not lit up like the 'sell horse' or 'rehome horse'. Is this possible?

A mare needs to be 4 years old in order to breed, stallions need to be 3 years old. Maybe that's the problem?
