Today is dressage, tomorrow ease of handling, and Sunday is the speed phase. Intermediate level riders start showing their tests at around 1:30 central time, advanced riders start at 2:45, and the international level riders, who are competing for a $10,000 1st place purse, start at 4pm.

I'm hoping that Larissa will be able to do me a solid and add Working Equitation to the game. If she does, I will be breeding allllll my ponies for it.

AMEN! Would also love love love Working Equitation as a discipline here. Being interested in Lusitanos it didn't take long for me to stumble upon a Working Equitation video several years ago. Been hooked since. Thanks for posting this.

A friend of mine recommended I look into it. I like dressage, but I have severe nerve damage in my left arm that makes it very difficult to control my hand. If I want to ride well, I need to ride one handed. Well, you can't do that in dressage without special dispensation, but it's straight up required in Working Equitation. The trot is also my pony's least good gait, I can't ride him in recognized dressage shows because he's too short, and I like the strong emphasis on having your horse collected, but not with their chin between their knees. Working Equitation is a convergence of all the things I like and need wrapped into a neat package.
