Breeding vs. Showing input

I only ask this because I'm curious. But who would rather focus on showing instead of breeding or vice versa. For me, I don't have the time to enter 20 + horses in competitions, train, and breed them. I like a mix, but in my "quest" to make my version of an ideal quarter horse and paint horse, I end up with a lot of unneeded stud colts, I do train them in hopes that someone will see them and purchase them either as a stud or as a show horse. I do want my horses to look pretty AND excel in the show pen. If nothing else maybe a group of us could work together, some of us train and some of us breed to work together to make pretty competitors of any breed? I don't know. Any thought?

I prefer to work with a small group of horses to show and breed. I have one breeding pair for each of the two or three breeds I have and train and show them every day. Once my horses reach 10 years old a breed them and once the foal is born I start training in the stats needed for their discipline. So in short, I love both showing and breeding! Showing and training all of your horses is so much easier if you have only one or two breeding pairs.

I feel that when you’re working with a breed, it really does depend. If there are not very many good show horses already, then I would start with looks and then show. But if we’re talking conformation wise, then the body shape/type will affect the horses showing abilities too.
