Can't feed enough in barn

Hey!

I read the topic which asked about a horse losing weight inside the barn, tried the corn diet, didn't work. I literally fed 400% of food to them, the cubes, corn and sweet feed near hay, and my horses still kept on losing weight. It happened to horses which were in training, one of them happened to be also pregnant. After I saw that those are conditions which make it harder to keep them in barn, I tried putting a foal. Also failed.
So according to this I can only keep horses which are not pregnant and out of training in barns? If so I very much regret buying it.
I'll try linking the horses mentioned above but I'm a fresh user, this is my first forum post, so I might won't succeed as I should have

Those were the pregnant mare and the colt in training. Unfortunately I can't link the young horse for we already parted ways.
Now I'm keeping my inactive Arabian mare (my first horse) in the barn, she's safe and sound, but I'm scared of covering her, because I might will have to take her out to the pasture. And then the barn will be perfectly useless x)

First, don't panic too much. Right now only old age (17 and up) is the only way our horses can die.

Second, both of these mares should be able to be kept in the barn. Their max intake 17.2 and 20.6 should be more than plenty to fulfill their requirements.
From reading what you wrote, it sounds like you were trying to feed them way too much, plus, they get their feed eaten, always from the top down. So if you fee them alfalfa hay, corn, performance mix and weight gain, all at 100%, they're going to fill up on the alfalfa hay and not eat anything else, thus defeating the purpose of over-stuffing their feed bin.

You will find that keeping a pregnant mare in pasture, rather than the barn, will help keep her better fed, because in extreme conditions, you can stuff her with weight gain mixture and all the grass she can eat.

Barns are generally used (right now at least), to maintain perfect weight and near perfect temperament for competition horses.

Yellow corn will help to fulfill energy first, but if they're not eating enough, they'll loose weight. Weight gain is the optimum feed for over-stuffing them to help make them gain weight, it's best use is for very large foals that can't eat enough grass to sustain themselves.
