Market Cleanup

Post by Retsi »

Hi there friends

Not sure if this has been suggested, but I absolutely hate skimming through the market, so here we go.

I was thinking it would be reasonable to only allow horses to be up for sale 30, 60, or 90 days before the game automatically takes them down to clean up the congestion. I am a huge fan of putting horses up for offers, but I feel that has really added to the build up! It would be nice to see horses being put up by active players vs having to dig through probably 1,000 or more horses that no longer have an active player behind them.. especially the ones for offers, that will never be sold and will always remain in the market area. I think it will slightly add to the difficulty, and force you to trade with players who are still here. I know lots of players agree that the market is brimming with horses, and as the game grows in popularity you may need to find some sort of system of cleaning.

Thanks for reading, please feel free to leave constructive thoughts below

I do believe this has already been suggested. But I'm still for it. There are a few areas in the game that I would agree should be time-limited.

I agree with this. It would also be really cool to be able to filter ads so that if you could view only horses that aren't offers only.

That's easy enough to do. If you put your minimum price of 1 and (you'll have to) put a max price in, then all the 'offers only' will be filtered out.

Agree with the time limit.

One of my wishes is, and has been for a long time, a way to distinguish AC Studs and For Sales from pedigreed.

The following offer looked odd at first glance: $25,000 OBO for an Adoption Center NAB  . The point is that the horse has some of the new markings (in this case a Palomino with "Chrome"):

I actually bought that horse. XD I'd wanted her in the AC but she'd been snatched up before I could, so I was willing to pay the rather ridiculous price. It seems the same player has been grabbing all of the AC paint NABs they can and then trying to flip them, which while not against the rules seems a bit distasteful.

For my part I like to put if the horse is an AC horse in my ad to help people looking for foundies. At the same time, though, it's easy enough to distinguish if you go to the horse's page, which I feel is good practice since not everyone is honest in their ads. It adds a bit of reality for me - I wouldn't buy a horse only off of an ad in real life, I'd go and look at it myself. But of course that's a personal preference. :)

I have to admit I was tempted by the Palomino mare; she's very attractive.

AC offerings seem to get more colorful over the weekends!

Someone once told me there are 50 different horses on display in each AC breed category, so that supposedly if you click "Show Me The Horses" 10 times you've seen what the current stock is. It probably changes/refreshes periodically as the Tack Room does.

Agree with your opinions on ads, too.

Here's a painted AC NAB stallion with a modest stud fee and realistic description:

and indeed he has much to be modest about.

OTOH I've been known to brag up champions if/when I post them.

As usual, buyer beware  the devil's in the details :ugeek: read all the print.

  • This could be easily solved by putting all listing for 30 days. After that the listing will be remoed and you will need to list your horse again.

So it's actually twenty horses per breed at any one time. It'll take at least four clicks of "show me the horses" to see them all. (Tom posted about it in the Paints are Coming thread.) But with people snatching up horses so quickly right now it'll seem like more.

I don't usually talk up my AC horses because to me their main selling point is that they're AC. But I will talk up my other horses. XD
