Can't Figure Out My Golden Horse
Hello! Iv'e been searching for about 30 minutes now trying to figure out the color of my horse below. I think I have an idea what her genotype is, but I'm pretty new to this whole homozygous and heterozygous shabang. I've ruled out a champagne gene in her coat, since she doesn't have freckling. I'm not really sure if she would fit a pearl or cream, since she seems too dark. I was thinking a metallic dunskin with tiger eye, but I'd rather leave it up to you geno-pros. If you need a tackless photo of her, let me know. Thanks in advance!

Re: Can't Figure Out My Golden Horse
She is a buckskin (one cream gene on a bay base coat) but a pretty dark one. She also has tiger eye (the green eyes) and metallic sheen (best seen as more contrast between highlighted and shadowed areas on the head compared to non-metallic horses).UnpredictableDragon wrote:Hello! Re: Can't Figure Out My Golden Horse
She is buckskin for sure, and either a dark one or a sooty one.
I noticed as the overall training of a horse increases, it gets shinier so it becomes hard to tell if your horse is born shiny or just well-trained. (The head is not usually affected by training though.)

Thank you both so much!Totina wrote:She is a buckskin (one cream gene on a bay base coat) but a pretty dark one. She also has tiger eye (the green eyes) and metallic sheen (best seen as more contrast between highlighted and shadowed areas on the head compared to non-metallic horses).
