Question --

Post by HighCrownEquestrian »

I don't understand the Breeds Wiki....Says that to get a CWB, you breed a TB to a Canadian Horse, but instead you just get a TB x CH...GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Anyways-- What are the odds of my filly, HCE Miss Canada (CH <sire> x TB <dam>) giving a CWB if I breed her to another of the same cross or to a pure CWB?

I can't really remember much about how creating breeds works, but the chances are very, very low to nothing. Crossing to a pure CWB will end up with getting a 50% CWB, crossing to another CHxTB should result in a CHxTB.

If you try to cross her back to a purebred for a canadian warmblood, it will never work. You do have a chance if you breed her back to another crossed thoroughbred and canadian warmblood.

Although the stud Toronto falls 'within' the requirements for a warmblood, the mare is a bit less acceptable. May I suggest finding a pony-type, medium-build match. When paired with either the stud or the mare, it may give you a better chance.

Good Luck.

I gave up and I was methodical. My dream on here for example is the American Saddlebred. You have to create... oh about 10 breeds for that to happen? But even in the easiest case. You get the breed books (those are in the market) - they tell you if a horse will breed into another breed. Like take for example a Persian Arabian. You need an Arabian and a Caspian. That's it. So you used the Persian Arabian book to see if your horses are applicable and will make that breed (the evaluation is based on a score of 5). So you have the book and your Arabian and your Caspian are both 5/5 (through some miracle). Well guess what. The odds are STILL going to be extremely low and I think they're based on chance. Say your Arabian is just barely within the right parameters. And your Caspian throws it off. Bam. You have a cross. Sadly, and ironically. I have a BUNCH of Fresians right now that are evaluated by their own book as NA for their breed. I don't know how that happened, but that's how I got them when I bought them. It's almost impossible to create a new breed, especially if all your 'ingredients' aren't accessible or aren't there.
