So here I have Velvet Providence, good GP and stats but he doesn't win that often what am I doing wrong?

He's bombproof, and only has 30 speed, so he'll do no good in racing. He might do good in Endurance or Reining, but I could be horribly wrong. He also could be one of those horses that doesn't wanna work lol.
