Can my horses die of old age/starvation? Just wondering.

They can die of old age (Any time after 20 years, pregnant mares won't die until after they've given birth).
They won't die of starvation, but in my experience you get better foals from well fed horses.

Oh, and some competitions rely on your horse being around a certain weight.

They will actually have a chance of dying after 17, I believe.
