Help Me Decide
I'm trying to decide between breeding Welsh Cobs and Thoroughbreds and can't make up my mind. I'm not sure if trying to do both would be too overwhelming or not, especially since I don't like the lines of most of the horses out there.
A Welsh Cob was the first horse I ever rode and she was my mount for several years. I have a certain fondness for them because of that, and I love the general look of the breed itself. They found a few other breeds on the game, including a few substantial ones. There's not many breeders on the game, and the horses that are around don't look like Welsh Cobs to me.
With Thoroughbreds, I have no partiality to the breed itself, however I love the sport of horse racing; in particular Thoroughbred horse racing. I probably know more about horse racing and Thoroughbreds than any other horse, despite having no personal interactions with them. They have many breeders, are a major breed contributing to other breeds. However, again the horses that are out there look nothing like real Thoroughbreds (way too tall, totally incorrect conformation, unrecognized colors, etc), and it drives me up a wall.
For what its worth, I already have two NAB (stallion and mare) - both good candidates for TB crosses, but only ok candidates for WAB (creating Spanish Barb for Welshies; though Welsh have a good bit of TB in them too).
What's your opinion - should I go for Welshies or TBs? Or try both?

Re: Help Me Decide
I think Welsh Cobs is a good idea especially because I haven’t seen any really really good ones in this game so far. Thoroughbreds are being worked on by a lot of people right now too. I think Thuroughbreds might work out, but if you want them to look different than the rest you’ll probably want to make them really good at showing or something like that. I personally think you should start with Welsh Cobs and if you feel like you have enough time and room, start tackling thuroughbreds. That’s just my opinionflrancho wrote:I'm trying to decide between breeding Welsh Cobs and Thoroughbreds and can't make up my mind. Thanks for replying. I think I may do that, I do really love Welsh Cobs. I think I'll keep my NAB I have (since they're good TB pospects maybe all the folks working on TBs can use any studs I have), but personally breed for Cleveland Bay myself and from that get Norfolk Trotters. From the Norfolks I can breed a few Hackney, so that will give me two breeds I need for Cobs right there. Breeding some Exmoors in addition shouldn't be to hard either and would give me a good stepping stone to get to Welsh Mountains, effectively taking out three of the four base breeds I need for Welshies and helping out quite a few other breeds along the way that don't seem to have many breeders. It will take me a while with how I breed horses (I'm not in a race to get the breed the fastest, I want the breeds to look right and show well.). If I think I have the room I may add TB or I may take on a second Welsh section. Maybe Section C, there aren't any in the game at all.I think Welsh Cobs is a good idea especially because I haven’t seen any really really good ones in this game so far.
