What is going on?
When this horse was born I thought he was cremello but then noticed the light ring around his nose and thought he was a wild bay perlino. However he just seems too light. He has a blanket but at his age I wouldn't expect this much varnishing or an all over varnish. Mom is buckskin... So maybe he has a pearl? Or since his mom was s buckskin maybe silver can be involved? I don't understand these dilutions very well.
Here's him vs another wild bay perlino. He is trained, but you can still see the difference in his face

What's going on? lol. I really like his base color and want to look more into it.

Have someone verify, but they both are Perlino, though the second one looks to have some nice sooty, I'm not seeing pearl. All the colors (except plain black, I suppose), have a range of colors from pale to dark, that is dependent on their genes.Sunken Hill Stables wrote:When this horse was born I thought he was cremello but then noticed the light ring around his nose and thought he was a wild bay perlino. Re: What is going on?
That's probably exactly it. I do have sooty running through those lines. And his line shouldn't have it. I guess I was just use to seeing the perlino and sooty and not a regular perlino. It's no wonder his color was giving me such a headache... I was looking into the wrong horse lol. Thank you!!Baranduin Brewster wrote:Sunken Hill Stables wrote:When this horse was born I thought he was cremello but then noticed the light ring around his nose and thought he was a wild bay perlino. Also, the showing is going really well! Thanks again for the training!
