I will use this log mainly for organizing my horses of which there are too many. My goals and breeds are likely to fluctate, as well as my activity level. This thread is supposed to be as some sort of record of my stables.

History

2017-08-25: Thread made.

Current projects: Dapples (going well), Competive Akhals (some sort of going well, mostly I just piggyback on better breeders) and Tarpan ponies that are to become Gotland ponies (boring and straight out of adoption centre).

Goals: Fix the dapples to be awesome, combine them with the competive akhals. Get something decent out of the Tarpans-To-Be-Gotlands.

Long-Term Goals:

• * Dark, dappled NSH (North Swedish Horse) in all their colors (don't forget mealy!). Mostly for looks, might be good for log pulling, driving and suchlike.
  * Leopard, mealy Gotlands in all their colors. Mostly for looks, might be good for easier levels in jumping and dressage. I probably won't go trotter route, but it's something to consider.
  * Aesthically pleasing Akhal-Tekes that still will be my main competive breed. Dapples and shine. Mainly endurance.

Project 1 - Sooty Dapples

Origin: Two sooty dappled Turkmene mares became many.
Current Status: Dapple gene widespread. Early and heavy sooty crossed in from Forest Horses.
Goal: Breed dapple to be homozygot. Select for clear, sharp dapples and early sooty. Metallic shine preferred.
Future: Breed the colour into my Akhal-Tekes.

Extremely well defined dapples, from Metallic Daisy x Honor Cake. Homozygot?

Heavy sooty (from forest horse). Would wish more pronounced dapples.

Light sooty, remarkable colour. Gets fiery red offspring.

Beautiful dun without dapples though. I'm considering keeping dun in my akhal-tekes even though that's wrong... Just because of her.

Project 2 - Competive Akhal-Tekes

Origin: A long time ago I bred Turkmenes + Arabians because I wanted good endurance horses (Speed + Stamina).
I don't have many horses left from that time, but at that point I decided to breed them.
(I usually end up with Akhal-Tekes in these kind of games, it's a mystery. I've never even seen one IRL).
Current Status: Decent start. Need to breed better stats and get more purebreds. I'm at a point where I could almost throw everything out and buy in new stock and be just as well off as I'm now.
Goal: Do something about it. Make more room, get more good horses. Piggyback better breeders.
Future: Are to be thrown together with the Dapple Project, keeping the best of both (stats and colour).

Project 3 - Tarpan Project

Summary: The tarpan project is going to be a gotland project, why did I even name it Tarpan project.
Right now: Keep the best genes from the lousy tarpans, get a decent exterior (read: feathers, mealy and leopard). Wide genepool, always have to many of these little beasts.

Future: Mix it with whatever it was you needed to mix it with. Ah, it's going to invade all of the pastures, so make sure it's after the akhal+dapple combination, when they're going steady and don't need much room.
