Just for fun -- What would you peg these horses as?
This is a colour project I've had going for several generations and I've just about hit my goal. I know what colours both of these horses are, but -- based on phenotype -- I'm curious as to what y'all think they might be.

First one is black-based with silver and tiger eye. Looks like possible dun as well. So some sort of silver grulla.
Second is bay-based with silver, dun, pangare and tiger-eye.
Those are the dilutions that I could discern. There may be more, but I'm not handy enough at picking them out without looking at the parents to tell for sure. So basically my guess is grulla and zebra dun with silver, shaded to the very lightest, possibly with one cream, and major pangare on the bay.

They both are heavy pangare expressions. The first on chestnut and the second on wild bay. I think it has to be a double tiger eye gene for both; I don't see any champagne. Flaxen and silver included. There may be dun on the chestnut based horse, but I'm leaning toward no dun for either.Bitapetrone wrote:This is a colour project I've had going for several generations and I've just about hit my goal. And no dilutions.
Pangare can really lighten a coat drastically. I think these are good examples of this.
Very nice outcomes.

Both of y'all made excellent guesses.
The first horse is flaxen mealy chestnut dun with tiger eye.
The second horse is silver mealy wild bay dun with tiger eye.
