That's good news. I plan to spend more real world money on this game, to help things along.
After all, rehoming a reject which has done nothing of note is one thing. Consigning a champion to oblivion is uncomfortably like sending a Kentucky Derby winner to slaughter.

Re: Rehoming -- here's a little help
Related to my previous post, a salute of honor to Revenant, who completed CP Shu's career this week, earning him higher standings in the Baladi rankings. No one knows better than Scythian and I that Shu had valuable traits. This beautiful stallion will live on in his descendants. (And another salute to The Spotted Cat while we're at it.)
Further: Unless modifications bearing on retirement/rehoming are implemented in the next week: Next Saturday, I will enter the Horses for Sale market at approximately 1200 Central Daylight Time (local noon; that's 1700 Coordinated Universal). I will search for horses at or over 18 years of age who cannot be rehomed, and whose price is modest ($1-$300). I will buy up to 25 of them and place them in my pastures, which will be at 100% quality. They will be distributed at 50% density, two to a Small, four to Medium, six to Large. Over the next day/s I will age them up and out of the game. Their last months will be peaceful and well fed.
I only wish I could do this IRL, too.

Re: Rehoming -- here's a little help
Added: I won't buy pregnant mares.

Re: Rehoming -- here's a little help
One more thing: If you'd like me to find your horse for this project:
* Change your horse's color description to "yellow horse" -- that's easy to search on.
* Post or re-post a few minutes before 1700 UTC (that's noon, US Central daylight) on Saturday, March 26.
I'll still screen for age, price, lack of pregnancy in mares, and progeny (can't rehome).
Scythian referenced this in "General Chit Chat" a couple of hours ago. I hope everyone in need sees it.

Re: Rehoming -- old horses going gently ...

So if on 3/26 Xan finds a limited number of retirees and some are named as above, she might come up with a substitute name based on parentage, breeder, inherent traits, or developed skills. (Something reasonable, not "Mega Mama" or "Studly Pony".) After all, think about the pedigrees of their descendants.

Re: Rehoming -- report on March 26 purchases
In case anyone's interested, here's what happened with my offer (in this thread) to adopt up to 25 horses designated with "yellow horse" in the Colour field.
Somewhat later than noon last Saturday, I searched "Horses for Sale" and found no horses with that Colour description. Redoing the search, simply setting minimum age to 18, I found quite a few horses! Most of the ones I bought were $1; two were $5; one was $10. And there was a wonderful pony for $14 -- more about him later.
Of the $1-10 retirees, only one, Spring Hope, has "passed on to greener pastures" at the age of 21+, after enjoying a rich pasture and new friends. (I have not been training as much as I wished.)
The others are still at grass (12 altogether). All but 2 or 3 were at BCS 9, 100% energy, and 0% fatigue, having never been trained. I have allowed this to continue, and they have not and will not be entered in shows. I'm thankful they all had proper names, not "sell" or "[money symbol]".
Meanwhile, I trust I'm fulfilling TheDoctor_007's wishes by continuing the career of the classic Shetland stallion Prince of the Hunt. This delightful pony, so well-trained by his previous owner, has earned championships in In-Hand Jumping, Log Pull, and Obstacle Jumping. He's well-along in Marathon Driving, too. Prince is available for breeding -- his descendants were already numerous before the sale, and I hope he will continue to generate good offspring.
So I'm not just the last protector-curator of aged equines. As the sale ad for Prince of the Hunt rightly asserted, that pony has plenty left to do!

Re: Rehoming
Necroing this thread instead of starting another, since there's already three blips for it in the Already Suggested post.
I am a new player slowly figuring out all the bits of this game, and being able to rehome a horse that has living offspring would be SO helpful. I obviously don't have great horses yet that people want to buy, and I'm having trouble pawning them off for a dollar. I agree with people that it would be really nice to store their data for the purpose of pedigrees, but having to lose the space in my barn for a horse I can't use for my breeding projects hurts a bit. I know it has been a long time since this was suggested, but please consider! (◕♡◕)

Re: Rehoming
We are working on a solution to this that we think people will like. It won't be ready for some time though as we have a lot of other things in the works right now.Rakurosa wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 8:34 pm Necroing this thread instead of starting another, since there's already three blips for it in the Already Suggested post.
