Can someone explain COI for me?
I know COI has something to do with inbreeding but I don't really get how to get more or less of it, or if it's best to have it high or low. Can someone explain? Thank you.

Re: Can someone explain COI for me?
coi ingame basically shows how interbred a horse's parentage is. in real life restricted interbreeding between bloodlines is allowed because of passing on genetic traits. in game it currently doesnt affect anything because they have not yet made the changes for birth defects and genetic illnesses and so on. Some people keep the coi low because they dont want to have to change their lines when these features are added. Others dont pay attention because it does not affect anything yet ingame. i hope this helps.TouchOfClass wrote:I know COI has something to do with inbreeding but I don't really get how to get more or less of it, or if it's best to have it high or low. COI stands for Coefficient of Inbreeding, if you want to google it. Basically it calculates how inbred the horse's pedigree is, how big is the chance that your horse will have identical genes in any locus. As already mentioned, currently it doesn't do anything in HWO, but is planned on being implemented in the future. IMHO, it's calculated wrong here anyways, in theory, if you breed two unrelated horses, their foal should have 0% COI no matter what it's parents' COI is (it should only calculate the repeating ancestors on _different_ side of pedigrees) I don't think it works like that here.TouchOfClass wrote:I know COI has something to do with inbreeding but I don't really get how to get more or less of it, or if it's best to have it high or low. Basically it's a good idea to keep COI low, as if it's implemented at some point, high COI means high probability of your horse having inherited recessive genetic disorders and such.
