your horse gets points for placing in competitions. The higher the level and the better the placement (1th place gets more that 5th place, lower doesn't get you points I think) the more points are rewarded. The amount of earned points result in getting a title;
there is a topic somewhere where the different amounts are listed for each title, so take a look or let yourself be surprised
