Friesian Mane

Post by Ms. Trouble Maker »

Idk if this is a lot of trouble, but I know most Friesians have a very long mane and tail, is this possible to make it only available for Friesians and I think Fell ponies have really long manes too.

Long manes on horses is more a matter of choice of the owner than based up on breed (even if some breeds have a thin mane typicaly).

ohhh ok! My bad. Didn't know there were fake hair for horses. lol I never put on fake hair on mine. But I guess if that's an option in the game at some point I'll make sure all my Friesians have long hair and manes....since you never see a short haired Friesian.

I think these Friesian horses look pretty much like any other horse. And they are the real deal. The pics are from different friesian breeders.

It could also interfere with the horse(s) age along with how well they keep the manes and tails. :) Braiding and putting on a sock tube, could be the result of a thicker, longer mane and tail. I've seen it in many different breeds.

Those long manes and tails aren't generally fake - they just take a LOT of maintenance, plaiting, bagging, oiling and good luck to stop the buggers from rubbing them out. There are some amazing manes on some Gypsy Cobs. Its more a matter of preference for the owner. I own Gypsy Cobs, and if I maintained it, my mare would probably have a mane similar to the first picture, but she is paddock-kept and naked all year round, and has a habit of rubbing on trees. Pretty much all horses have the potential to have manes like this, if their owners are willing to put in the hard work (with the exception of a few, I think Paints sometimes have a gene bred into them that results in a very thin tail?)

I think my shetland ponies have the longest manes! My Friesian cross has a normal mane, and the QH quite a short one. Most of my gypsy cobs have quite long or thick manes with no effort of my behalf, meaning they often rub big holes in them too LOL

Many reining and reined cow horse quarter horses get very long manes and tails (even without the fake tails added) - it's all a matter of maintenance
