I didn't come from there actually...a goat breeder friend posted a random article about the Przewalski Horses (a name I've stumbled over ever since I knew they existed) and upon realizing the original native name for them was way easier than the name imposed by intruders to the region...I decided to adopt the use of the much more pronounceable name!

does 'Takhi' have a meaning or is it derived from words of the language (if you know)? And yes, you are right, it is much easier to pronounce Your WAB is a nice one, when mine are grown I'll happily also give him a few shots

I bred Desert Star specifically for my own Sorraia project (that started when my NAB wasn't going the direction I wanted and I had already started getting Takhi and Tarpans for a Fjord project...enter...mixing my existing Arab/NAB into the Sorraia project instead!). I have one other colt but he's a silver bay roan and not as typey.
I'll try to find the article I read originally. I love rare breeds and breed dairy goats in real life, including a rare breed (Guernsey) and have a rare breed dog to protect them (Karakachan). So I'm always interested in learning about more different breeds.

Ah! That's so interesting about your goat and dog breeds! That's probably one of the reasons that I've been so drawn to the Przewalski/Tarpan based breeds in this game. I like their "primitive-ness," the fact that they're not as flashy and popular as the other more Arabian or Thoroughbred based breeds. The landrace breeds, especially the ones adapted for extreme conditions, are my favorites.
And yeah, talking about your beautiful typey boy... I've realized that I need to start getting more serious about my NAB/WAB habits, and not just scramble for whatever I can get my hands on. I'm finally starting to actually breed my own NABs, and theoretically be more choosey about which ones go into my WABs, specifically thinking about how my Sorraias will look. I lucked out with my first few, but am now realizing that they're not going to stay that way if I keep being so carefree about it.

I'm trying to go heavy on dun for the NAB mixed in (and the forest horse) although the incorrectly colored Arabs have also contributed. I'm allowing buckskin for now, and silver and roan just to get the look. I may reconsider on the roan eventually. I started with NAB and Turkmene (for Akhal Tekes...I like those in real life)...Turkmene stats were off enough she only gave me Arab/Turkmenes... I tried for Baladi with the NAB and all I got were Arab/NAB...so I scrapped both plans! LOL I had already replaced the Turkmene for a Takhi and a Tarpan mare, so when I was looking up a 'recipe' that included Arab/NAB horses, the Sorraia fit the bill. Now I just need to get the red stats out of the two primitive breeds...sigh... I have a couple 80% Tarpans that I think will move me in that direction. And crossed a little NAB with good movement stats into the Takhi. Sloowwww going...but hopefully I'll be down to WAB instead of a bunch of NAB crosses by the time I want to start crossing the primitives.

Foryal C (Mongolian x Tarpan) has come of age and is up for stud. He is bigger and bulkier than the recipe calls, so might work with too small, too little bulk mares.
On the other side (WAB x Tarpan) we now have Mister C - correct size and bulk, but a fraction too light and a bit too much horse type.

Ooo... I'm crawling at a snail's pace right now (doing some major rearranging of both mine and my girlfriend's stables) but once I advance enough turns to free up some of my mares, I'll definitely be looking these guys up.Tjigra wrote:...

Don't know how "sticky" his genes are, but I have a Mongolian boy whose body size is actually a little too large for Sorraia! Might help balance out those skinnier WAB/Tarpans. He's up for stud if anyone wants to give him a try.
EDIT: Switched him out with a better big-bodied stallion.
