Why does one of my mares only give me colts?
So, a mare only gives me colts, why?

I'm not sure there's any reason to it, probably just a coincidence. I believe that the genders of foals are random, so you probably just keep getting the same gender. In real life, gender is determined by what the father passes on. (Females are XX chromosomes, males are XY, therefore a female will always pass an x, but a male could pass an x or a y). I don't know if this game has coding in for genes or if it is random, but the mare should foal both fillies and colts. It's luck of the draw, really. I've had horses on this game five me a run of colts for a while before I finally get a filly. My current set of weanlings only has 1 colt and 5 fillies. A few years ago, it was 3 colts and 1 filly. It's purely random. I think it's just chance. However, I remember reading an article or something that someone linked on here that mares that are gaining weight are more likely to give birth to colts and those that loose weight are more likely to have fillies - I'm not sure if that's coded in the game, though.Caten wrote:So, a mare only gives me colts, why?
