Just how I do it. =] I want your input!

Post by arthorse »

This is the way I train a horse, not sure if it is right or not if you have any suggestions, let me know. :D

I start training up a horse for Stamina. I do Arena, Walk, 5 minutes. Then I walk up how much time they do according to ability. When it can Walk in the Arena for 30 minutes, then have it Drag A Tire on Hills and work up according to ability from 5 Minutes on up. (Just like you did for Stamina) How does it sound so far trainers? It worked pretty well for this girl!

Depending upon your skill level, the length of time it takes to train will vary greatly. If you have minimal or no skills training done, it can take up to 7 years of the horse's life. Most or all, it should take about 3 years.

It appears you're doing alright.
I would suggest focusing just on stamina until they're at least 90% complete (some trainers train stamina until they can't anymore). So the more you can train in stamina while saving fatigue and energy will work best.
You've been around for awhile, so I'm assuming you have at least half of your skills training complete. So I would expect you to be training just a little quicker than what you appear to be (assuming that you started her as a newborn).
However, personally I found dragging the tire isn't very useful in a training program when training for the full process. It wastes too much fatigue and too much energy. During the entire training process, save as much fatigue and energy.
The training guide in our help section is a good basic program. In fact, my personal training program doesn't differ very much from it either. I suspect most of our training programs don't differ very much from that guide, not necessarily because we all learned from it, but because the guide creator (Kayaine) found what we all have found as well, the program written is a very fatigue and energy saving schedule.

Thank you! Can you link the training guide? I can't find it. Also, what do you suggest to do for strength training besides Drag A Tire? :D :D I started the Arab at 2.7 months. But I have very little skills at training because I didn't realize training was a thing until I discovered the community. (about a year after I joined)

My advice would be to get as many courses done as possible. Start with stamina, speed, agility, and then the rest. Try to get the second training things done as quick as possible though, and youll see a lot of improvement from that. Also, try to train as many things as possible at once, efficiently. Efficiency is your best friend when it comes to this stuff. These things alone should improve your time a bunch!

Mega posted you the guide. I also bumped it so that it appears back up at the top in the help guides section.

But to answer your question directly, how do I train for strength? I do not, I train for stamina and in so doing, my strength gets trained up as well. All I need to do is finish the last 10% or so. Which gets finished off with jumping obstacles, which in turn aids in training up much of the speed stat.
