Until registries are in place the Breeding Communities forum will be for players to work together towards creating or improving their favourite breeds.
Forum rules
Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.
All new threads must be approved.

Hey guys I have a question. Where on earth did the friesian come from? I'm hoping someone with a better understanding of the foundation of the thoroughbred might be able to fill me in on something I missed? I've never seen that before.

You don't need Friesians to breed TB's, if there are some in the pedigree it was obviously bred out to get the TB

You used a few grade horses in some of your TB's I think, the one I found went back to Tarpan and Forest Horse/Friesian etc which can have feather so it might have past on down through the generations

It looks like you're required to have one to breed a thoroughbred in the game, right? I'm just curious if that's true to life.

Oh yes they have Galloway don't they, and Friesian is in the Galloway. I'd say real life it's more like a common ancestor to the Friesian, it is also said that Romans took Friesian horses to England, where the breed could have influenced the Shire, Clydesdale, Fell and Dales, probably through the Galloway or similar

That's what I suspected. I can see where their origins probably crossed while the breed was developing, but probably not the actual Friesians themselves. Otherwise I think early thoroughbreds would have looked quite different (not that some of them didn't look pretty rough anyway).

Has anyone tried crossing some turkmene blood in their thoroughbred line to thin them out a bit? I'm thinking about trying that once I get my breeding project set up.

Quick question!! I have an Akhal-Teke filly that I hope to breed to a Galloway and then use the resulting foal to create a TB. Problem is, the filly has NO stars on her Thoroughbred evaluation! Is it impossible to get a TB foal with her? If I breed her to a Galloway with a good TB evaluation, and breed that foal to a Arabian x North African Barb which also has a high TB evaluation, will there be any chances of the foal being a purebred TB? Just wondering if I should continue with this filly or if she's a lost cause.
