Making Your own saddlepads -Templates-

Post by ~ss~ »

Is there a way you can make a contest and let people make there own warebles or saddlepads?

I bet if you pass a couple of templates a lot of us can do a lot of cool things.
We can vote once a month on the best one.

It would also be cool if we could make our tack to represent our stables and breeding lines!

The items in the game have to change shape with the horse, and due to the way the images work the "resting" shape of the horses, and thus the items on them look very silly. It's actually kind of hard to draw something out of shape such that it will be pulled into a reasonable shape once displayed on the horse. We can try it though. Maybe saddle pads or blankets to start. Also anything in the game we have to own the copyright to in order to display it so we'll have to work out the legal stuff as well. Making a game is never as simple as it seems! :?

Wow. I never thought of that. I guess thats why most games only have one model per breed. Thanks for the thought though!

I'm still working on it. This is something we have thought of doing before.

I would love to give designing my own wearables a shot. As a 3d artist I'm used to adjusting flat graphics to fit a not so flat surface, as long as there's a way to preview what it looks like on a horse(or maybe different horses, light/heavy/pony? I think we can learn where things need to be tweaked and distorted to fit the framework.

As for legal issues, I'm not a lawyer, but would it be possible to have user's wishing to submit custom wearables sign a user agreement granting licensing for display, use, modification and promotion(aka the stream of new horse pictures) on the site as opposed to granting a full rights buyout? In this case a limited license agreement would both protect the user's artwork and protect you from users sneaking through something they don't have rights themselves to aka copyright infringement wherein you would act as a service provider under the DMCA and be bound to those rules instead of owning all artwork on the site.

No Problem. if making a game was easy we would all have our own. So we understand. This post was more as a reaction/solution to all the work you guys have to do alreaddy. And this was something people could help you guys with.

i used to make art and icons for Zinga. and i bet thers a lot some of us can do.I spoke to some people in the chat and there are a couple of artists that can create cool things.

And a simpel disclaimer that all submitted work is now the propperty of Horseworld would do to. If people dont want to lose there rights than they dont submit.

:geek: :ugeek: :geek: There might be in the end or later in game an other "paid"option to own a saddle pad with a stable logo.but that wil be a very time consuming thing to keep updated so hold that thought for later :D
