I want to start my own lines of TB from scratch but I have no idea how! I just saw people talking about it in a training forum... Shiva and Championbreeder. Can anyone help me? I'm new! Before starting with something as expensive as TB's, I would suggest starting with a less expensive breed, so you can make money. I would work your way up to TB's because I was going to start from scratch myself, but the formula for making them was way to long and complex. A few breeds that you might want to try breeding, that aren't ancient breeds, to start include Akhal Tekes(Arabian x Turkmene), Baladis(North African Barb x Arabian), Mongolians([ Przewalski Horse x Tarpan ] x Tarpan) or Koniks([ Przewalski Horse x Tarpan ] x [ Przewalski Horse x Forest Horse ]). A lot of people just stick with ancient breeds, because they are easy, and very interesting to breed. I would be willing to sell you a few Hanoverians if you want to experiment with them. There are also some very cheap, but very nice Arabians for sale.

Definitely not rude - and welcome to the game! I hope you don't get discouraged by the following, but here we go ;)

If you want to do it from scratch, you go to "Help" -> "Breeds Wiki" -> "Thoroughbred". There you'll see you need to breed an Arabian x North African Barb with an Akhal-Teke x Galloway.

Some of these can be bought directly from the adoption centre for 25 pony tokens each (or from the market for in game money from players selling ac horses). Arabians and NABs are two of these ancient breeds. Akhal-Tekes are created by breeding an Arabian with a Turkemene (which is also an adoption centre horse), while Galloways are a lot harder and require many more steps.

To make it even more complicated, a cross between these four breeds will not guarantee a Thoroughbred. Under "Market" -> "Book Store" you can find evalutation books for each breed. These can be used when you enter your horse's profile to see whether or not they fit the four different criteria. You'll have to get one for every breed you have to create before finally reaching the TB.

I hope it makes sense! My advice would be to buy a TB a mare and breed from there, using other people's stallions for a while until you learn the mechanics of the game, because there's a lot. Especially if you want to compete your TB's (and win). Jumping right in there trying to breed for a semi-advanced breed like TB's takes a lot of time when you're new and haven't got the skills and money to have a lot of horses on your farm. But then again, if that's what you want, do it no doubt! I did so (although with a breed that was much easier to create) and the best of those horses were on the global rankings for more than a year, without any outside influence. So it's definitely possible, it just takes a lot more time.

I also know that some of the bigger TB breeders are looking for students and such at the moment. Perhaps you could apply there too? That would be a perfect way to enter the HWO TB world

And if you accept donations, there are loads of experienced players that often offer up money or horses to new players, either through donations or community contests. I am currently breeding Thoroughbreds, and I will only end the project once I break some racing world records. I'm getting closer and can't wait to do so.

Right now, there are many players breeding Thoroughbreds and they are extremely overpriced. I would suggest joining a breeding group that will help you in your quest to breed TBs. There's PTP, I'm not sure if they're still accepting members, but they do provide studs and resources, I think. If not, you could start with buying some cheap TBs off the market and breed them to better studs. If you have decent TBs you can sell them for quite a lot of money.
