Are there any other people who ride horses in real life?
I currently ride english and bounce around from discipline to discipline. I rode hunter for 4 year, and saddleseat for a year before that, and am currently working on jumping but working on dressage every now and then. I know one person that rides irl, but I would love to know a few others! If you ride in real life let me know, and maybe we can help each other out sometimes! I would also love to know if anyone competes regularly!

Used to exercise racing thoroughbreds. Retrained retired thoroughbreds for pleasure riding. Been on a fox hunt and survived. Exercised hunters and their 26 foxhounds. Worked exercising paints for top Indiana paint show horse guy. Pulled a stuck foal out of his moma. That was amazing. Currently a western trail rider for pleasure.

Re: Are there any other people who ride horses in real life?
I have been riding on and off for about 4 years. The reason for the on and off is that I keep *ugh* finding something wrong with my stables. No, I am not a complainer, but my past few stables either specialized in cussing me out or telling me off for something the owner's daughter did. Her horse pooped in the aisle and she kept going at me for not cleaning up my mess. All that trainer ever did was critique my riding, (in a bad way, I know some criticism is healthy and good) and my person, and my (her daughter's!) daily mess that I made whenever I came.Rosecreekstables wrote:I currently ride english and bounce around from discipline to discipline. Soooooooooooooo, sorry if that was TMI.

I am currently looking for a stable and have contacted two places, waiting to hear back. If anyone knows any good places near South Jersey, please quote me!

super scary for me because i don't ride english. The horse was used to jumping the fences and i took him around most of them. But it was something i'll never forget.

English is super fun. The saddle is a bit less stable, but it doesn't take that long to get used to. I love jumping. It is so much fun! I don't jump very high, but I would love to go on a foxhunt! No one around me (within my state) does it.Mega wrote:super scary for me because i don't ride english. The horse was used to jumping the fences and i took him around most of them. I ride! I've been riding English for ten years and I currently compete all over the state with my horse in the baby green hunter division! Right now, since our show series just ended, I've taken on an OTTB to retrain and get some show experience, but I'm still planning on competing my horse in January when the new season starts! I've also messed around in the jumper ring and been out XC a few times :3
Oh ye and I forgot to mention, my horse is a 16hh 14 y/o chestnut OTTB gelding. His name is Chuckie :3. He's very... interesting but nevertheless very sweet and he always takes care of me. The highest we jumped together was 3'3" (jump set) and probably 3'9" (his tendency to over jump lol) We show at 2'3" tho.
The one I'm training is named Rio and she's a 16.2hh 9 y/o bay OTTB mare. She has no idea what do do with her legs yet but she's getting there
. A few nights ago we just set a new jump height record for her at 2'3"-2'6" and she handled it beautifully. I'm really excited to see where she goes

I ride! I've been riding and competing in English for most of my life. I haven't really done anything as exciting as you guys, but I'm excited for my future competitions and plans!

Re: Are there any other people who ride horses in real life?
I have been riding for 4.5 years, live in Australia and have a couple of my own horses but my fav horse is called Trig.Rosecreekstables wrote:I currently ride english and bounce around from discipline to discipline. He is a mixture of 4 breeds:
Australian Stockhorse x Arabian x Welsh Mountain Pony x Riding Pony.
I have done lots of hunter, saddleseat, cross country, dressage & show jumping.
My horse loves jumping and so do I so we mostly do that.
I have competed Novice +
Heights on jumping I've done: 1.6 Metres +
Cross Spread widths I've jumped: 2 Metres +
I compete weekly on Trig and my other horse Starry (Riding Pony).
Trig for Cross Country & Dressage
Starry for Dressage & Show Jumping
I have also been breaking in horses locally irl i am currently working on 8 horses.
My second horse I own is called Reddy.
Breed: Standy (Standardbred Purebred)
He is an Ex Pacer so he did pacing races from ages: 2 - 6 then he retired from the pacing industry and now he is being broken in by me. At the moment he is green under saddle but I've only been doing him for 2.5 months.
Cheers!
