Hire jockeys/handlers

Post by nix_uk »

Hi,

I can't see a suggestion for it in the "All The Things Already Suggested or Planned" topic but I thought the addition of one or two jockeys/handlers to hire for competition entry might be a useful thing? It would open up more comps for horses and get the competitions running more regularly. It's also a thing in real life, most barns enter more than one horse in a competition.

Just a thought :)

I like this idea. I've had people pay me to enter and train their horses. It would be very useful if contracts were implemented. I've played a game where contracts were used frequently, and they worked well. Especially for training, brooding, and competitions. Owners could set the limitations, for example, "36 turns or 7 days", whichever comes first, so you are able to get your horses back if the other party doesn't turn. The option to cancel could also be present. If someone is paying you $200,000 for a broodmare, you do not keep the money if you cancel, and the foal is moved to their account at birth. If someone is paying you to train, and you cancel, you do not get any of the money, etc. It would be so so useful because I would be lending my broodmares frequently without worrying whether or not they will be returned!

I agree about the adding turns to lending horses. I thought an admin in the community chat room mentioned they were working on community stables and training 'facilities' run by players. They have ideas but not near done yet. I am really hoping a turn based contract or 'cancel' to return it instantly instead of waiting till full contract ends will be part of that.

The idea of getting Jockeys would be interesting.. The boost from jockeys could help give an ok horse an advantage or increase certain stats... like the unicorn horn and special event items increase a point or two in some stats. The jockeys, depending on who is available or hired, could have stats in different random categories and you choose which you want. For instance, I do saddleseat and western pleasure a lot. Those use movement and balance and intel. I wouldn't want a jockey that primarily does speed and strength because it wouldn't aid in my winning any in those particular events. I'm wondering if we were to implement the 'training facilities' or whatever they call them, each training center could hire 3 different jockeys and if we are a member of said facility, we can choose which one of their jockeys to hire or choose to use one of our own. The thing on that would come up as how many jockeys could each person hire or have work their stables at a time. If jockeys at term contacts as well that would help. We could pay money per game month per jockey or jockeys get a % of winnings or something. They do already have a pull down for Jockeys in our competitions pages.
