Really? They aren't that great! I'm still working on them. I'm hoping to snag studdings and foals from this group to introduce some new blood. Finally, people are excited for TBs!Shiva wrote:Thanks, so much Retsi, I've always been jealous of your TBs

What do you mean they're not great? They're AWESOME. And of course! Once we get some Thoroughbreds that meet our expectations we'll definitely stud them.Retsi wrote:Really? They aren't that great! Re: |PTP| Prestigious Thoroughbreds Project |PTP|
There's just been limited variety, because they aren't super popular. Hard to make improvements. I will host Thoroughbred only competitions for the yearlings, and more, in October if everyone can get a TB foal trained up under 4 years by then? It'll be a racing event type so make sure your foal is built for runnin'Stormchase Stables wrote:What do you mean they're not great? They're AWESOME. And of course! I can get like 50 foals up by then, and besides, we have a system: (I guess) breeders pick out the best foals so that trainers can train them and not worry about breeding teir own. At least, I think it's a good system. Very efficientRetsi wrote:There's just been limited variety, because they aren't super popular. Hard to make improvements. UP NEXT
a |PV| Titan colt, in training. will be up for breeding upon request!
edit: upon aging, this colt has matured into a lovely darker bay color. some points to consider when breeding this colt is
1. His flank is MAXIMUM shallow depth. This is advantageous for racehorses.
2. His rib cage is very deep, this is a plus for stamina
3. His natural talent is likely high. His sire is an outstanding performing racehorse, with a flashy record of placing. This colt will breed champions with an equal brood, and almost certainly with a brood of slightly lesser breeding.
4. Very long hips, ideal power and speed
5. Agility/Stifle
6. Perfect back! So very slightly shorter than balanced for speed
7. Croup all-star

A TIP: When I breed my Thoroughbreds, I pay very close attention to the show records within the immediate pedigree. I always review the grandsires, grand-dams, and the sire himself. The "natural" talent as I call it, adds up to
1. bodily conformation
2. show records in immediate family
The body of your horses is very important. High stat horses mean nothing if they are not built correctly. They may still win, but they will not be a great horse to breed, nor will they uphold their WPS against horses that are very selectively bred for competition.
