Creating Breeds?
So, I am kind of confused. Let's say I wanted to breed the Norwegian Fjord: Mongolian + [Przewalski Horse + Mongolian]. I always thought the Mongolian (first horse creation) had to be mare and the Przewalski Horse + Mongolian (second horse creation) had to be a stallion. However, when I check first gen. breeds, many of the first horse creations are stallions and the seconds are mares. Does it really matter? Thank you!

Not at all. What matters is the recipe, not the sexes or order, with two exceptions.Jockey wrote:So, I am kind of confused. Exception One: If you have a straight two breed cross for a new breed, you can use their failed offspring to try again.
Example: For breeding the Tokara, you need a Hokkaido and a Tarpan. If these two produce a Hokkaido x Tarpan cross rather than the Tokara, you can use an exact cross (usually a full sibling works well) to try again.
Exception Two: The recipe can't be switched around, the right side of the recipe and the left side of the recipe are not interchangeable.
Example: For breeding the Trakehner, you will need an Arabian and Thoroughbred cross and breed it to a Mongolian and Turkmene cross. You will not be able to take a Thoroughbred and Mongolian cross and breed it to an Arabian and Turkmene cross and get the new breed.

Thank you! I was worried for a moment that my work towards creating the Hessian Warmblood breed might have been for nothing.BlackOak2 wrote:Not at all. As long as you keep your wits about you, you should be good!Jockey wrote: Thank you! I was worried for a moment that my work towards creating the Hessian Warmblood breed might have been for nothing.

And definitely good luck! That is not an easy breed to set a goal for.
