What color?
I've been looking at the charts until cross-eyed but I can't seem to figure this one out. My best guess is Silver Grullo? But that doesn't seem quite right.

He looks bay-based dun to me.

Re: What color?
90% of your problems can be solved if you look at the parents and further ancestors and work from there. Neither of his parents carry silver, so he's obviously not that. He is of course stripey, so he's definitely dun. His mother is buckskin, but he isn't, so he didn't inherit her cream. Both parents are bay, so it's no surprise that he is as well. Put it all together: Bay Dun.

Re: What color?
This would be a good tactic if you can determine the base colors and how genetics work in general. If you cant, this tactic also doesnt work, because the person simply cant get the colors/genetics right.Argent wrote:90% of your problems can be solved if you look at the parents and further ancestors and work from there. Re: What color?
I've yet to see an example where simply looking at the ancestors couldn't give you a very good idea of what color your current horse is. The only potentially tricky ones, really, are NABs fresh from the AC. If they have foals, it's easier, but initially they can be a bit difficult to sort out. Most colors are quite easy.
