Breeds don't match
I bred an Arabian and a Boulonnais, but the foal doesn't show up as an Araboulonnais. Instead, he shows up as an Arabian x Boulonnais.

Re: Breeds don't match
Just because you breed two 'correct' recipe horses together, does not guarantee you the new breed when the foal is born. They need to carry the correct genes for the new breed and they need to also throw them. When you have perfect parents that throw perfect genes, it's still a flip of the coin, however, perfect parents can very often throw the new breed over and over.SumiMyGirl wrote:I bred an Arabian and a Boulonnais, but the foal doesn't show up as an Araboulonnais. Give it a few more tries.
Things that may aid you to achieve the new breed:
1) The new breed book can help guide you into perfecting the parents.
2) For a simple cross (one breed into another), breeding together full siblings can also result in the new breed (this trick does not work for complex recipes (like: breed a and breed b crossing with breed c).
3) Sometimes mixing a too tall or too heavy mare with a too short or too light stallion seems to offer better luck.
4) Purchasing or breeding to already proven stock is an excellent choice, especially when you cross horses that are similar to what produced successfully in the past (for instance, a heavier and shorter mare was successful at producing the new breed with the stallion in question).
Good Luck!
