Until registries are in place the Breeding Communities forum will be for players to work together towards creating or improving their favourite breeds.
Forum rules
Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.
All new threads must be approved.

Any Tips on Breeding the Hessian Warmblood?

Post by Jockey »

Hi! I wanted to breed something different, so I went to the Breeds Wiki. I ran across Hessian Warmbloods and was instantly hooked. Does anyone have any tips on how to successfully breed the Hessian Warmblood? Any advice appreciated. Thank you for stopping by! ;)

You'll need to buy the book on the breed from the book store. Since the stud update where stallions use 10% energy to breed, one of the breeds used to create the Hessian is in short supply. You may need to create this breed yourself before you can create the Hessian Warmblood http://www.horseworldonline.net/wiki/breed/157

Use the book to guide you toward breeding your breed. You do this by evaluating your horses under the eval tab on the horse's profile.
If you need to create other breeds to get to yours, you may also need to purchase those books as well. It depends on if you are working toward your breed from scratch or whether you intend to use already available, on-market stock.

You need to keep in mind that even for perfect parents, the new breed may not pop out. Creating a line of horses that adhere to the 'perfect' traits of that breed will increase your luck.

I do not know how difficult it is to breed the warmblood you're looking for, so I can offer no specific hints, such as... a heavier arabian offers better stock... What I can offer is the basic hints.
Larger mares bred to smaller stallions even out a little better sometimes, this includes type, not just height.
If the 'perfect' match (or any match really) isn't producing the new breed and you've tried it a number of times, it probably means that one or both are not offering the genes they need to, this basically means that although they look like they fit the part, there are a lot of other genes they have that do not meet the requirements and it's these genes they're throwing.
And lastly, sometimes the not-perfect matches work out better than the perfect matches, so don't disregard a stud or brood, just because they're less than perfect.

Good Luck.
