Good racer

Post by Demonic »

Hi,

What makes a good racer? I know it has to be a downhill slope from the hips to the withers and a light weight horse type and ofcourse the abilities of the racing shows , but what else?

Demonic

P.s. please ping me as the subrscribe option doesn't work at the moment (for whatever reason x) )

If subscribe doesn't, try just bookmarking.

If you look into the Extensive User Guide and scroll down to the part entitled: Breeding Report, you'll see a link to an example of the conformation report. This example explains what areas affect which stats.

To answer your question, I must first ask this one: What racing discipline are you asking about?
Racing Speed Stamina Strength Speed
Sprint Racing Speed Strength Agility Speed
Steeplechasing Speed Agility Strength Stamina
Harness Racing Speed Stamina Strength Tempo
Endurance Stamina Speed Agility Tempo

Arguably, endurance may not be considered racing in all opinions. I usually don't consider it racing, since endurance trials aren't always run all at once, rather they set the horse's off in staggered times (at least those I've seen). However, it's under racing for the locals on the game.

At the very least, all of these comps include speed, four include strength, three include stamina, three include agility and two include tempo.

So this is where you must make some decisions.
A shorter neck enhances strength, but longer enhances speed.
Tempo is improved by a sloping shoulder, also a lower point of shoulder helps this as well as being ideal for stamina.
Well sprung ribs are great for stamina.
Shallow flank is better for speed, but a deep flank is better for stamina.
Sloping hips encourages strength as well as having a long hip, which also aids speed.
Thick legs help strength but inhibits speed.
Forward stifles aid agility.
Long back length helps tempo but a short one is better for strength and agility.
Finally, downhill offers great advantages to speed, while uphill is best for strength, however being level is best for agility and tempo.

You'll need to determine what's best for your breeding program. Also keep in mind that the competition heart of horses is important as well. There appears to be something else written into these horses genes that allow some horses to perform better, more successfully or more dependably then others. What I mean is, you may have two identical horses (in all the important areas), yet one is always beat out or often beat out by it's competitors while the other is able to beat those same competitors. So choosing an appropriate horse to become a stud or brood is important as well. Finding a good or decent competition horse may not also mean that this horse will fulfill the requirements of the breeding shed. Having really high stats only mean that the horse has great genes and can compete at least on flat talent. It doesn't necessarily mean that the horse has anything beyond that. I hope you understand.

Cheers! :D

Thank you so much for the great explanation!! I want to focus on sprint training ^^

Oh and by the way, I tried all of the options, but they just weren't clickable. I think it's because of my phone :'p

It's quite probably the phone. The game is a browser based game that works much better on pc. I have played it successfully on a tablet (although using the finger instead of a mouse to navigate from tab to tab and without an external keyboard was... frustrating).

Do you need/want more help with your sprint racing topic?
