Cremello

Post by Pearl »

I'm usually great with colors, but this filly has me stumped:

I know that her mother is smoky brown dun. I know that her sire is brown-based with champagne - I think he's sable cream, but I'm not sure. It's the uncertainty with the sire that's giving me issues. When this girl was first born, I thought she was a palomino pearl with dun. Here is her newborn picture:

Here are some normal palomino pearls:

Clearly quite different, but I thought that maybe dun could account for that.

However, now that she is older and I don't see any clear dun indicators, I'm not so sure. Also, if her sire is sable cream, then he can't possibly have a pearl to pass on. After looking at a bunch of cremellos, I'm leaning toward that as her color. But she still seems a little too green-ish to be a true cremello to me.

Thoughts?

From my perspective she looks to be just cremello.
She has the blue eyes and pink skin around her eye and muzzle, which are indicators of cremello.
I don't believe she is carrying any pearl, but I do see the undertone you are talking about in her coat that's questionable. It may just be a different shade of cremello.
