Improved Pastures

Post by abbih2 »

To add realism to the game, I would like to see the more careful placement of mares and stallions in pastures. In real life, if a mare and a stud are in the same pasture, they will breed. I would like to see X% chance of a mare and a stud breeding if kept in the same pasture between spring and fall (most mares don't cycle during winter) and if there are multiple studs in the pasture you won't know who the sire is at least until the foal is born. If this were implemented I would also like to see you have to wait X amount of turns until you knew the mare was pregnant. I feel this would add a lot of realism and make the game a little more challenging. This would also pair nicely with gelding because it would allow you to still run your male and female horses together without them breeding. Especially stallions you don't believe to be breeding quality.

Pasture breeding is already planned.

Sorry to bump such an old topic, but does anyone have any idea how far down the to-do-list the pasture breeding and gelding features are? I am really looking forward to this part of the game, perhaps more than even the white patterns :D

These are much older (I don't know if they've been kept updated), but sometimes additions answers can be found in the change and road map logs found under the community, forum, change log.

Sometimes I go back to them and stare at all the work accomplished and to-be accomplished.
