Arabian horse breeder looking for a partnership!

Post by GracelynB5 »

Hello. I have trying to change the Arabian breed, or at least make my own line of Arabs. I want to make them good for competition, specifically endurance, but more importantly make them realistic to real life. I'm trying to make them something like this..

Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

I have plenty more images upon request!!

Please note I am NOT try to make the crazy halter horses with a weird nose. I am trying to make more of the pleasure and endurance Arabians and bring back smaller, dish faced Arabians.

In writing here are some thing that I would like to create. This is from my understanding on how to make the arabian horse in HWO look like the one in real life. Some of the confo stats I'm confused on so please feel free to suggest things!!

Head and Neck Conformation:
-Face profile = Concave/Dished
-Face Length = On the smaller side??
-Jowl = Shallow I think?
-Neck Length = On the longer side

Shoulder and Barrel Conformation:
-Wither/Shoulder Angle = Sloped
-Point of shoulder = Low
-Rib Cage = Deep
-Depth of Flank = Deep

Back, Haunches, and Legs Conformation:
-Hip Angle = Flat
-Hip Length = Shorter side I think??
-Leg Thickness = Thin
-Stifle Placement = Back?? I don't know
-Back Length = Short
-Croup Height = Level/Even

Other
-Sport = I hope that they become great horses to compete with, ESPECIALLY in endurance! (and maybe like western trail??)
-Tail = High
-Tail Appearance = I like short, but a mix of short and long is fine :)
-Height = 14.0 - 15.1 hands
-Color = Bay, Chestnut, Grey, Roan, Black
-Temperament = Generally high strung, but some can be bombproof if specializing in other sports
-Build = I think Horse type, very light - light???
-Weight = On the lighter side, like 1100-600
-EDIT Muscle = Not bulky, but is strong and has some muscle if that makes sense ;)
Notes: I am starting with adopted horses because I don't want to use other people's hard work if they're not my partner.

I am looking for a partner that is active, has the same/close vision as me, has space in farm, is willing to share and spend time with me to go over the project, good communication, understands breeding and will be able to help me understand it better to get what we want, and preferably has a membership. Membership is not required. I am willing to have more than one partner, but it would prefer to have fewer members 1-2. If you become my partner, you will have access to most of my horses (even if they're not Arabians) and from time to time, my money. (I got lots of it lol). I'm pretty active so we can talk on the chat thing. I hope I will be able to breed/have/use some of your Arabians as well. Also I'm hoping to brand the Arabians as well, which one it's clear you're the right one and we work well together we can decide what the brand will be.

I hope to talk to you soon and thank you for your time! If you have any questions feel free to ask! (Please ping me or DM me. Ping is preferable)

I have played around a bit with Arabians. I think to really shift your program towards what you want, you'll need to use a lot of AC horses. It's usually quite difficult to find a dishy faced Arabian with lots of generations behind it. I would be interested in joining on a smaller scale for quality, I operate fairly quickly when it comes to developing my lines to show characteristics I like, my TBs all have a very similar appearance. I refuse to do Arabians with Appaloosa markings

Haha I don't like appaloosa markings either! I've listed the colors in the post above. Lovely arabian! :D Something like that is a good start, expect more dish face, maybe longer neck, low point of shoulder, deep rib cage and depth of flank, flat hip angle, short back, and even croup. That is a lot I know but I think with the proper partner it can happen. Could you go on the chat thing?

I'm currently trying to breed the strength stat into my arabians, so if I partner with you, I wouldn't participate in the breeding of the dished faces. I'll list the conformation qualities you want that I'll be for and against.

Dished Face: against
Short Face: for
Shallow Jowl: for
Long Neck: against
Sloped Withers: for
Low Shoulder Point: for
Deep Rib Cage: for
Deep Flank: for
Flat Hip Angle: against
Short Hip Length: against
Thin Legs: against
Backward Stifle: for
Short Back: for
Level Croup: against

As you can see, the "fors" outweigh the "againsts." If you don't want to consider me for your partnership, I completely understand.

I have two agree with the overly dished faces one sees on today's Arabs. With this conformation, where is the ability to properly breathe? To run like the legendary Arab, a horse would need proper sinus cavities! :)

Some arabs are very extreme but is there any breathing problems tho? Do note that they are from the Saudi with racing in mind. The Egyptian lines are among the most dished and one would assume breathing problems to be very notable racing through the deserts. But then again there are some face shapes that looks bizzare like when the head is concave but also too short

I have some Arabians that might lean towards more what you're looking for. I'm trying to breed towards similar conformation but just got started recently.

I would like to help you on your project. I have some arabians that might be useful. You can look though my mares pasture (4 of them). If you need one, you can use it after they foal.
Also, if you don't mind, I would like to be your partner. I have owned real arabians before and know what they should look like.
