Paints Not Throwing Paints

Post by QueenRoyalEquestrian »

So I've got a bunch of paint stallions, breeding them with HGP mares to introduce the patterns into my herds. They are just throwing socks. Anyone else having this problem? Socks. Socks everywhere. Breeding paints with solids. If you can only get the paint coat with another paint coat - gee that's a very limited edition to the game that's going to hamper other breeds. Like the paints.

you have to breed a paint to the sock generation to get markings.

It's probably working on a sort of recessive process, much like appaloosa patterning (not the Lp switch). Silverine offered a good explanation once that stuck with me, perhaps it will help you (paraphrased): In order to spread the patterning, you have to fill your cup. If you don't have a full cup (or one to fill in that area), then you won't have any markings.

I kind of like that it's recessive, because if you can breed a pinto to a solid to get socks, that means you can have horses with just socks, so I think that's a nice way to introduce both pinto patterns and socks into the game.
