Grullo, Black Dilution, or...?
Need some help with a few of my herd!
The closest I can find to this guy color-wise, is Grullo. BUT, he doesn't look black to me on my laptop like he did on my iPad - he looks like either a REALLY dark red, or dark bay. Or maybe even brown with some form of dilution on the legs? He clearly is a Blanket with 2 copies of the LP switch, so I only care about his base color.

Similar deal with this one. He looks similar to Classic Champagne, but he is CLEARLY not, as he has no pink on him. I'm really up in the air on this boy! It looks like he has the Silver gene, and he's obviously got a Blanket, so my only concern is his base color.

This one, too! Looks like a Chestnut of sorts, but I'm not certain, so input is appreciated!
Thanks for the help!

Re: Grullo, Black Dilution, or...?
Cursed Production is indeed grullo. The reason his black points appear red is because of the leopard complex gene that causes bronzing on black areas.Ziel wrote:Need some help with a few of my herd!

Grade Mistake is a silver black (with no dapples from the silver gene, which is probably why it offered a little difficulty). He may or may not bronze a little as he ages. I don't know how the bronze genes handle silver when paired together.
Uno Bay is another black. When a basic black foal is born, a red-shifted black foal is simply black. On the other hand, a silver or gray-shifted black foal carries a hidden, single cream gene.

Re: Grullo, Black Dilution, or...?
Thanks for your help! I thought perhaps Cursed Production had bronzing, but the guide I generally use doesn't have an example of the bronzing on black. Grade mistake looked more "bay" when he was born, but is getting darker with age, as is Uno Bay. I'll be keeping an eye on them to see how they develop!BlackOak2 wrote: Cursed Production is indeed grullo.
