100% Chance For New Breed with 5/5 Evals
I don't know if this hasn't already been posted, I can't imagine this already hasn't been discussed. I've had so many 'new breed' fails that I've given up entirely. The crosses, both dam and sire, were 5/5 evaluated for the new breed. All had failures for the specified breed. 4 foal failures so far. 0 successes. I can't wrap my head around it, I don't think it should be so random that you land a breed when their evals are spot on. I don't think the 'random' chance should be so, so low. 0/4 with 5/5 evals on both sides is just... I don't have words. I love this game but there are some serious glitches here. I'm sure breeds would expand a TON if it wasn't purely random on top of all the hard work you already have to do.

What breeds are you trying to create and which horses are you using? Pretty sure the odds of a horse not coming out as a new breed when the cross and eval is correct is fairly slim.

There is a type of 'random' chance, but there's still more to it than even that. This is a snippet of what our admins have said recently to a similar comment to yours in this post: http://www.horseworldonline.net/forum/v ... 157#p74157 (page 3).CrownRoyalEquestrian wrote:I don't know if this hasn't already been posted, I can't imagine this already hasn't been discussed. What they offered could also be said for the mare. So either of those horses, regardless of whether they are 5 star for the new breed, may just match up so poorly together that their offspring just simply misses the genetics that is required to produce the new breed. We cannot see everything behind the curtains, so-to-speak, and just like in real life, often we'll be disappointed by what we get. On the other hand, sometimes we get something that proves to be much more useful than we first realize, like a mare or stallion that although has poor stars for a new breed, continues to produce them again and again with a certain type of mare.Tom wrote:Some of the difficulty in breeding is that the formula isn't just [breed a] x [breed b] = [breed c]. The horses have to produce offspring that are within the new breed genetically so trying the same stallion over and over without good results probably means that stallion has poor genetic compatibly with the new breed you are trying for.
It is frustrating at times and perhaps in the future our admins might tweak the system a little to allow for a little better chance. But it appears to be working the way they want it to.
Perhaps try a different pairing or even a pair that are less 'exact' for the breed standard. Sometimes I have more luck with a set that is just outside of perfect for height (like the mare is too tall and the stallion is too short).

The only genetics factored for breed creation are the correct cross and correct evaluation. There are no hidden factors.BlackOak2 wrote: What they offered could also be said for the mare. The problem is that I'm trying to create the Warlander and currently, there is only one Andalusian stud with 5/5. So I threw him at 4 different 5/5 eval Fresian mares - all were 5/5 for the Warlander. I was shocked and really dismayed that all of them were breed fails. I mean - I give up. I'm not going to pursue it. I have one stud myself but he's 4/5 for Warlander so - no chance at all there I suppose. What's crazy is that I have a whole herd of what I call 'Jurassic Park Fresians' - they're N/A for Friesans (and NA for most else, including Warlanders). I can't tell if someone bred them so far out just to make a new breed but how they're still Fresians is beyond me. So it just appears to be all over the map here.

That's a rash and erroneous assumption.CrownRoyalEquestrian wrote:I have one stud myself but he's 4/5 for Warlander so - no chance at all there I suppose.
The best way to create a new breed is to make sure the horses you're using are compatible. Maybe someone is *just barely* within the lines, and you keep getting foals that fall just short or shoot a bit too high. It would be better to take a close look at the horses you have and find compatible matches, if you choose to continue with this project.

The parents can be 5/5 and still not pass the right genes on. You should evaluate the foals to see what went wrong.

If you haven't given your stud a try at all, you should. He may prove to be just what you need.

Re: 100% Chance For New Breed with 5/5 Evals
Yeah I'm going to give up on this breed. Sadly, there just isn't enough access to the Andulusians. And I'm not too shocked really. I mean, you have to reinvent the wheel at least 5 times to get the more complex breeds. I can see they were just shy of some mark and I can't find any replacement Andalusians to make up the difference. Okay, deleting the thread!

This Andalusian stud is a proven breeder for Warlanders. He does not have a 5 star evaluation for Warlander but if you pair a Friesian mare with a little more body than the evaluation calls for, you might have some luck. Also he is up for stud for $1 so it won’t cost you an arm and a leg to try again. (Disclaimer:Not my Stud)
As for your Jurassic Park Friesians (lmfao) some may have been bred for hgp or confo rather than breed specific evaluations. I’ve seen and had my fair share of breeds hugely outside of guide lines, but like with mine there could have been purpose. I bred Arabians with body mass of over 35% and as less horsey as I could get them for Pintabians. The other evaluations didn’t matter because I could breed Paints with contradicting or comparative evals and as long as I had the body closer than the normal Arabian body of 10% (
) about 35 or so I was able to create a Pintabian.
I have 4 firsts for breeds myself, Argent I know has been around long enough to create and watch and help people create breeds and BlackOak2 as well. We’re just trying to give you some helpful hints and advice so you can become a well rounded and experienced breeder too. And I’m not trying to say you don’t know how to breed, rather that there is still a lot of subtle information and we all learn something new about this game every day. If we learn from each other we can better ourselves, keep this game going and keep Tom and Larissa on their toes. (
