Until registries are in place the Breeding Communities forum will be for players to work together towards creating or improving their favourite breeds.
Forum rules
Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.

Quarter

Post by cinja »

Anyone else working on breeding quarters at some point? :) I have a project going on and have some good mares for Spanish Jennet and TB's. Waiting on someone else having nice Akhal-Teke x Galloway stallions, luckily some Andalusian stallions are already available.

I'm only keeping fillies/mares and selling/rehoming all colts, so good customer for stallions owners. Please share your breeding project and link all good breeding stallions especially Andalusian, Akhal-Teke x Galloway and Sorraia :)

Im also working on breeding quarter horses. I have the right foals to breed a Galloway right now, just waiting for them to age! I also have some good arab x NAB mares for breeding a thoroughbred. I also have one andy up for stud if you are interested, he is 3* for fresian, quarter horse, and Spanish barb.

I have all the right stock and I'm having zero luck with breeding a QH? Any suggestions?

Since there are so few public QH stallions, I bred one to a Mustang mare (hoping to be able to cross the foal to a Spanish Jennet for an Appaloosa result) that didn't work out so Ive Crossed the QH x Mustang mare back to a QH stallion. hoping for a filly. It only take a couple generations to get back to a purebred QH.

I had the same issues trying to get appaloosa. But I'll get back to qh, maybe get some traits up in the process. It's finicky. I've had sore luck trying for new breeds.

Let me know if you want to trade "blood"... I don't keep breeding stock with reds at all, they get rehomed. Im starting to see mostly positive comments on their reports at this point
